My name is Bobbie Finley, and I have served as the Transportation Director/Coordinator for
Interstate 35 CSD since January 2011. Prior to this role, I was a bus driver for 10 years. In
addition to overseeing transportation, I also manage maintenance work on the buses, a
responsibility that has grown beyond just minor repairs.
I would love to serve on the IPTA Board for a fourth term. I’m very passionate about my work.
Student safety is #1 in my book! I’m a person who likes to think outside the box when trying to
accomplish a goal. We transport 650 students over more than 192 square miles with a limited
amount of funding common to all rural districts, and it’s going to get even tougher with the
budget cuts in Education.
I started a Bus Stars program in 2012 for students who are transported by bus regularly to help
facilitate good behavior on school buses. This program follows the 6 Pillars of Character:
trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship, and has been a great
success.
I’ve served on the Truro City Council for 2 years, was a member of the Truro Betterment
Committee for 12 years, and am a current member of the Truro Fire Department.
I have lived in Truro, Iowa, with my husband, Rick, for 33 years. Together, we have raised 3
children, Ricky, Johnny, and Holly. Both sons are married and have blessed our family with six
grandchildren. Our daughter, Holly, is currently teaching at Clarke CSD and is living in Monroe,
Iowa.
In closing, I believe we transport the most precious cargo in the world—children. I would be
honored to have your support as I seek to continue serving as an IPTA Board Member.
